Rosie is a Siberian Husky that loves to chase everything he sees. His owner, a New Yorker named Scott Crewell, said that his pet frequently goes after squirrels, rabbits, and anything that basically moves. It is this passion that got the dog in deep trouble one night.
One of the things that Scott and Rosie love to do together is going on late-night cruises on the Great Sacandaga Lake. They have done this so many times, and the evening air refreshes them both. But then, one night, the dog’s instinct to chase animals overtook her relaxing moment. And it almost created a tragedy.
Dog overboard
As always, Rosie would wear a lifevest whenever they went out on their boat. But on this one fateful night, Scott decided to take it off as it was wet. he tried to shake and wipe the water off as they headed back home. As he was hanging the vest to air dry it, he suddenly heard a splash.
Apparently, Rosie heard some ducks swimming near their boat, and he went overboard to chase them. They were still five miles away from the shore, and it was nearly impossible for the dog to swim that far.
Safe inland
As it was night, darkness enveloped the lake. Try as he may, Al couldn’t see where Rosie went. The worried dog owner got a friend, and together they searched the lake the whole evening. They looked for her until the break of dawn. But there was no sign of her.
He had that horrible feeling that his pet had drowned. But Al didn’t lose hope just yet. He went online and asked friends to share a photo of Rosie. She might have somehow found her way to shore, and someone might have seen the pooch. He was right.
Later that day, a fisherman saw Rosie resting by the shore. She was wet and exhausted after swimming for a long time to get to safety. Several people caught her and reunited the pup with her dad. Al was so grateful.
