Rescued Corgi Adopts Four Orphaned Labrador Puppies And Treats Them Like Her Own
We know a mother’s love is unlike any other. Even for canines, this holds true.
A rescued Corgi Adopts Puppies. When a Lab named Autumn Dove sadly passed away after giving birth, a corgi named Angela came to the rescue after she played adopted mother to the four orphaned puppies.
This was such an unconditional gesture for the two-year-old dog who earlier came at the Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue in Texas after being saved from a puppy mill. Recently, she gave birth to her own litter too, so she was in complete mommy mode by the time she took in the orphaned Lab quartet.
A Magical Moment
In an interview, Renee Eden, who works for Lone Star, says they thought they would do around-the-clock bottle feeding. At that time, Angela’s litter was three weeks old, and it was a little tricky to introduce a new set of puppies to somebody who’s already lactating their own. While other dogs would have turned their backs on this, Angela welcomed the newcomers like her own—making the moment magical.
The facility posted Angela’s first encounter with the quartet on Facebook, showing how their staff lays one of the newborn Labs beside Angela as she quickly nurses it, then allows all four of them to do the same.
Angela, Nurses the Labs As If They Were Her Own
When they were done feeding, the staff had to put back the Lab puppies inside an incubator to rest. Angela, however, got upset by this—she started barking and jumping at the incubator. This made them return the puppies to her, and she went back to cleaning and nursing the little ones as if they had always been hers. Eden says it was a fabulous moment.
Without Hesitation Rescued Corgi Adopts Puppies
The rescue recently gave an update about Angela and her new young charges, saying that they were all doing alright. Angela already took full ownership of them, with the puppies sleeping with her all night and nursing whenever they want to. Lone Star admits that they were surprised that Angela took to them so quickly, granted that she had a brood who were much older than them.
Regardless, it was a blessing despite how terrible the situation was.
And after Angela’s role as a mother to them is fulfilled, all of her puppies—orphaned Labs included—will be ready for their homes. Even Angela has one for her, too.
Proud of Angel Raising the labs
Her future family completely understood the situation and are very proud of their girl for what she’s done, expressing their willingness to wait for her until she’s done raising her Lab puppies.
But it looks like they won’t have to wait for long since all the puppies have already been claimed for adoption, and they won’t have to need Angela’s help anymore. But we hope they will not forget what she was able to do for them!
