Paralyzed Pooch From Iran Luckily Enters The US before borders closed.
Paralyzed Pooch From Iran came to the Unites States in 2020. This was just before the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) decided to close the United States’ borders for dogs from 52 countries, including Iran. This got enforced after CDC discovered falsified rabies certifications coming from these countries.
Luckily, Teddy entered from Iran right before the ban was enforced. However, it was not too lucky for the dog at all. This is because Teddy could no longer walk after receiving a severe beating from his abusive owners.
When Teddy arrived in the US, he got transported to PAWS Boston. It was in this shelter that it was discovered that the dog suffers from a severe spinal injury. The condition left Teddy paralyzed in his back legs.
Upon learning the dog’s condition, the volunteers from PAWS New England immediately went to work. They could not stomach that Teddy would not enjoy life because of his condition.
A Wheelchairs For Teddy
This is why the volunteers sought the help of Walkin’ Pets. The organization specializes in creating wheelchairs for animals, particularly dogs.
When the customized wheelchair arrived, Teddy struggled to use it at first. But the volunteers helped train the dog for him to get used to the wheelchair. Fortunately, Teddy exuded a patient attitude in learning how to navigate the wheelchair. In no time, the cute dog managed to do the navigation by himself.
However, the customized wheelchair is not the only positive development for the dog. This is because the dog got adopted right away. It was Leila Williams who decided to bring the dog home and provide him with a better life.
According to Leila, when she learned about the dog’s condition, she felt the need to help the dog. The fur parent gave assurance to the shelter that they made the right choice of approving her adoption request for the dog.
