These Golden Retrievers Now Have Their Forever Homes In Florida After Being Rescued From China
Doggos are such remarkable creatures that they can inspire people to do unbelievable feats. Like this dog rescue group from Florida. The Golden Rescue South Florida not only saved the lives of 20 Golden Retrievers last December, but they also helped people find new fur babies.
Pandemic Caused Increase In Dog Adoption
Since the pandemic took over, people have been staying inside their homes a lot. This prompted a significant increase in dog-adoption rates. This means that people who always wanted a dog, just couldn’t get one because they were barely at home. But COVID-19 has changed that.
However, when considering the fact that these Golden retrievers were supposed to be slaughtered in China, it didn’t take a while to find forever homes for these poor pups. The Golden Rescue South Florida made sure that these 20 doggos were saved from certain death.
Not only that, they found forever homes for these pups once they arrive in Florida. The group posted about the doggos online to find suitable candidates for them. Given the dogs’ situation, hundreds of dog lovers volunteered to take them home. But Kristine Minerva explained that the applicants had to go through a process.
Kristine is the rescue coordinator for The Golden Rescue South Florida. She explained that this movement started last June, so they had six months to choose the best candidates to take the doggos home. She shared that these pups basically don’t know how to act like a dog, so they need knowledgeable dog parents to adopt them.
Dogs Kept in Captivity In China
The pups certainly have been traumatized by kept in captivity, so in order for them to become regular dogs, they must be trained by humans who’s got extra love and patience to give them. Many of those who volunteered to take them home couldn’t help but cry tears of joy because they know how much this simple act of kindness means to these doggos.
