A Gentle Giant Dog Put Up With His Tiny Blind Kitten Brother’s Attacks To Get Him To Play
Melissa Lucas, a regular foster parent, got a call from her mom about a blind kitten that she had found and asked her to take it. When Melissa got the cat, she adored him from the start and named him Blinkin. She had to isolate him in the bathtub because she had a gentle giant dog, Labrador Chow Chow mix named JD. She was not sure how they would get along.
JD was huge, and he seemed to be unaware of his size and his surroundings. When Melissa introduced Blinkin, JD would not even look at him. When they tried to get him to look at Blinkin, he would turn his head and avert his eyes.
However, Blinkin was not having it. He thought that he had a new toy that he could play with. If only he could see what JD looked like, he would have second thoughts about making friends.
Melissa or her husband had to constantly watch over them because they were afraid that JD might hurt Blinkin. To Melissa’s pleasant surprise, JD knew how to be gentle with Blinkin. He let Blinkin do whatever he wanted, and he would nudge him back.
When they finally left them alone, Blinkin started to enthusiastically attack JD. He would jump on JD and constantly play with his tail. JD seemed to accept that having Blinkin around was something he could not avoid, so he started playing back. When Blinkin got a little older, JD started playing rougher.
JD Never Showed Signs Of Anger Or Irritation Towards Blinkin
However, JD never showed signs of anger or irritation towards Blinkin. He could play rough with other dogs, but he was very patient with his cat brother. He would even let him take a toy directly from his mouth.
When Blinkin needed a friend, JD accepted him. They were there for each other in a way that no one else could. They had a precious and unique friendship.
