Homeless Atlanta Man Saves Animals From Burning Animal Shelter.
Man saves animals without considering his own safety. When 53-year-old Keith Walker saw that an animal shelter in Atlanta named W-Underdogs was being razed by fire, he did not think twice about rushing into the building to save all the cats and dogs. It’s a good thing Keith did what he did because the animals would not have survived if he did not.
The fire started in the shelter’s kitchen and quickly spread throughout the building on December 18, 2020. All the animals, including Keith’s Pit Bull Bravo, were locked inside their cages and had no way of escaping.
Heaven-sent
It is a good thing that W-Underdogs’ founder, Grace Hamlin, would allow Walker to keep Bravo at the shelter every night. The night of the fire, Walker went to the shelter to pick up Bravo for his walk. Even if Walker was terrified, he set his fears aside in order to save over a dozen lives.
According to Hamlin, even the firefighters were reluctant to retrieve the dogs and called animal control. But since the fire spread fast, it would’ve already been too late if they had waited for animal control to arrive. Because of Walker’s bravery, Hamlin considers him to be her guardian angel.
Hero with a big heart
The fire left the building uninhabitable. Had it not been for Walker, however, the outcome could have been much worse. But there are still silver linings to the incident. For one, the fire occurred only a week before W-Underdogs was scheduled to move to its new facility, where the animals are now staying.
Another good thing that came out of what happened is that it showed everyone how brave Walker is. Because of this, people are now raising funds to help walker, who has been homeless since the age of 13. For more on the story of this man with a big heart, watch the video below:
